Chasing Toucans Chasing Toucans

No planes but plenty of trains and automobiles.

The plan was to be gone by 10am. It was a very good plan I thought….except I couldn’t check out. The little lady had overslept so I ended up waking her up again. She ordered me a taxi and made me a coffee...then told the taxi driver to wait ten minutes as he’d turned up!
So off we went to the bus station and I got dropped off there eventually found the right place only to be told I needed the other bus depot so needed to take the metro.
3 people’s directions later and I got the right place after causing chaos (of course) of almost knocking 5 people flying with my rucksack I got to the right station and found the connection (yay go me!) I then decided to stop off for something to eat as I was getting very wibbly wobbly through only having an espresso coffee and probably between both rucksacks carrying 30kg.
I found the right check in booth got a ticket and had 5mins to get to the right gate! Thankfully I was in the right direction and managed to get on the right bus!
An hour and half later I arrived in Sorocaba. I got a taxi and managed to get to the zoo. After being pointed in the right direction for the trainee’s house I got in, put things in the girl’s room met the other 4 interns and had just enough time to grab waterproofs before starting work!
After a quick tour round I met the veterinary team what was the first thing on the list to do & see?? Observe a post mortem on a Toco that had died that morning. We took a couple of faecal samples on slides. I have also discussed their diet amongst it is a commercial pellet (I have a label & info!) banana, paw paw and that’s it. They don’t see many cases of iron storage but they do have a bad problem with worms. I then got to help a bit, feeding baby monkeys, watching another post mortem on an Amazon parrot and then it was home time.
We all then headed to the supermarket and eventually got served. It’s a hypermarket and its just huge so much so that the staff are on roller-skates (I kid you not!) So on the evening a fair amount of conversation lots of beer and introduction to Pinga (evil tequila type stuff!) and a late night but work starts at 8…OOOhhhh a lie in!
