New Year BBQ and folk dancing
31.12.06
I cant believe its New Year, it doesnt feel like the end of the year. I usually reflect upon the last year thinking of all the key points that decided if its been a good or bad year. This year has been a birrova odd one. Obviously I won the award and Im out here doing something that has taken me 2 years to make a reality, between this and my personal life its been a rollercoaster ride of emotions from ecstatic to depressed and everything inbetween. Generally this year has brought a lot of change and been a bit of a turning point for me however I cant help but wonder what Im going to do with all the free time I gain back now Ive done the trip. Guess plan the sequel!! I also gain an extra 4 hours this year so when its 8pm here you lot will all be singing Auld Langs and trying to get the party poppers to fire!
Today we headed to the field to try and work out their timings. These guys work in a anticlockwise routine unlike the farm pair. They both appeared on cue sopping wet. I dont know if they had visited the river or stream nearby but they were drenched and sat preening and drying out before going out on their missions. At 10am it was so hot (33) and with no shade we headed to C&S house to catch up. I got greeted with a Hola Ive got a message for you from your tour operator. Silvyia had been trying to sort things for me so hopefully its been resolved. I also got to meet Natti today who has been my main contact here for the last year, and her 8 month old daughter Magda. So later on Carlos walked the route with us and had brought the machete. He is far worse than Vero between the two of them it reminded me of being back at work when Laura decides to prune. The aviary staff worry when Laura ties the hair back and arms herself with a saw loppers and secateurs. We eventually found the right place and found another couple of trees that would be far more suited for a Toucan bottom to fit it.
With that we headed back to get cleaned up ready for BBQ. Thankfully no rain tonight. C&S demonstrated Argentian folk dancing typical to the area, with hankies. Kinda like morris dancing . We all had a go which was very entertaining and a great fun start to 2007. And no I didnt risk dancing with the hankies there may have been tears.
