Drut,Poo and Tick
Well no spiders last night but the big toad was back and hes proving to be very useful. Back in the 80s there was a very silly animation series called the trap doot which I loved. The catchphrase being dont you open that trapdoor because theres something down there ( those who remember it will be singing that all day now I promise!). Well in it was a character called Drut who used to eat all the creepy crawlie things that came out the trap door. So thats what Ive named the toad because he came in did a circuit of the cabin ate all the bugs and went again. We like him a lot.
Up at 5.30 (again) and we tried a different tactic of going down the road and looking there then coming back to the citrus area. Today was going to be a hot one ot was 25 degrees at 5.30am. There was no signs or calls of a Toucan anywhere.
Veron then took us up the one track a bit later tempertures wer between 85 and 91 degrees and my knees were under my chin the majority of the time. My knees ,calves and hips were screaming with agony, it didnt help that the night before I had cramp in both legs that horrid cramp that still makes the muscle ache the following day.
About 2 hours into the trek and I could not go any further I felt sick. We then had the fun of coming back down for 2 hours.
At 16.30 we headed to the citrus area then to C&S. It turned out that Carlos had done the same track as us but at 1500ft had found a Toucan nest and was watching them. They were currently rearing chicks and feeding through a small hole at the front of the tree. About 17m away from the treee is where they appeared to be dropping poo, so he brought a quantity back and we made up 4 slides.so YAY Joh you have poo for Xmas!!
