Uh- Oh Immaculate Conception Day.
Well today is holiday day in Argentina for Catholics anyway celebrating the
Virgin Mary, which is a bit different to Jujuys web site saying Imacculate
conceptions were going on all over the region. Which I have to say was a bit
of a relief!
After the talk last night Corino,Giselle,Gabriella all dropped me off at the
camp AND AND I got "charged" extra for it for having extra passengers, the
cheek of it. I'm gutted though because on the way back they saw a baby
anteater crossing the road. Corino and I had only being disscussing
anteaters and Coatis earlier in the day and he said he had only seen
anteater twice and Coati once with a troop of Capuchins. Which was strange
and reckoned was an undercover agent, it's nice to know that in whatever
capacity of animal work from ranger to zoo keeper warped senses of humour go
across the board. Anyway they have promised faithfully they will send the
photo because if I say very very cute it still doesn't do it justice, and I
bet I get a charge for sending the photo.
Claudia may be coming back today along with 2 biologists so I have guests
tonight!! They are coming to GPS the area.
Well in the capi area today it was hitting 34.4 so by 3pm was zapped of any
energy I may have had so I decided to head back to camp and make a fire in
one of the burners so I could have a tepid shower. So once again my fire
making skills from the George came in handy. I find it hard to believe that
it is December and no doubt the fire in the George will be blazing whilst Im
trying to keep cool. Anyway I had a lovely shower that just took the edge of
the usual freezing one, so clean and refreshed I went upto the station area
to lookout for Tocos up there. I could hear one in the distance and roughly
the same area but couldn't see it. So not a very productive day today.
The jeeps back!! and I may have killed it again... It was a bit like the day
I killed Mr Leach's tractor...
For those who don't know I will quickly explain. Martin had just got his
tractor back from it being repaired. James Andy and myself had been
somewhere in the van and stopped to say hello at which point the tractor was
working and running fine. I stuck my head out the side door of the van to
say hello and it stopped..and wouldnt start again.. so of course I got the
blame for that. Well I had just taken a photo of the jeep and literally 5
meters later it stopped and wouldn't start. I did giggle at this point
because I had Guys answer to most mechanical failures of "its the spark
plug". But then remembered the tractor story. Greg reckons its a lack of
fuel but I wonder.....
