Addictions and Someones Listening
What Id do for Coffee and Haagen Daz, not at the same time you understand. Threw the majority of stuff away out the deceased fridge because too dark to do it last night and went to make coffee...Oh yeah no fatting gas. So with much stomping and almost a military march I went chasing coffee first. I think the lodge staff really are getting to know me they had the same approach this morning as the Aviary staff do first thing say hello (or Hola) and approach slowly with outstreched hand a mug containing coffee..then talk to me. Im beginning to wonder that perhaps my morning routine should change. Im far more of a night person than mornings it takes me a while to function properly and even with the morning trek I still wasn't quite with it.
Today is a lot cooler (29.1) and I reckon rain today the clouds have a British stamp all over them today. So after quizzing staff and taking photos and sorting some bits out I took a slow meander to the Capi area. I must have spent an hour there when the clouds came rolling in and it started to thunder. I admit to going out in the rain and it was warmer than my shower water! So I took some photos of the Capis. It was at this point I was thinking 'where are they? where do they go?' I then asked loud 'Just one toco and some pictures thats all is that too much to ask?' Well the Capis munched a flower and the woodpecker started drilling so I started to pack my things up.
Literally 5 minutes later I was just finishing my water when I heard a familiar croak and 2 Tocos shot out the far end of the swamp. I stood there open mouthed and dropped everything and got camera out. One was acting, as a distraction as the other raided the nest for chicks. Shking them and knocking them back. The only thing being that the photos didnt turn out very well because of the rain and storm even on night time or dusk setting they were naff. With a kick to the bench and a'Fatting hell ' One of the Tocos came back round the swamp and then got closer and closer at one point he was 15m away from me throwing nest material out the top of a post. With this next lot of photos I hve some good, some I hope will be better on the laptop and 1 stunning shot. Lots of motion blur of jungle and rain with the Toco really clear with his feet out ready to land. Well pleased with that one I may have to send that one off to a magazine or something if it looks ok on computer. So I lost him over the small swamp you cant get in there and waited another hour before doing a bit of a jig and putting my rangers hat on at a jaunty angle (James you would have been proud!).
Went a bit Monica like at camp. I cant use bleach because it attracts wasps so had been given some other cleaner ( oh how I miss pine disinfectant and Trigene!). So the fridge and chopping boards and the tables and the cloths got done you get the picture! And now its raining proper english rain. Also I hve gas..well not me personally but the kitchen does so I celebrated with 2 cups which equals one english mug!
