Lost, Obrigades and Alleluahs
Well after waiting for a hour I phoned Claudia and explained the situation who replied this is very s**t Yes? kinda summed it up I thought. So could I phone back in an hour. Thankfully TAM gave us a complimentary toothbrush and paste and comb on the flight and I am glad I kept it. Feeling so riffy at the moment. I have rats tails as hair and just feel icky. So an hour later the general plan is I go and get the transfer and Carlos will pick my bag up from the TAM office if they will deliver it there. So a phonecall later to them Yes they will drop it there WHHOOhooo.
So after lots of Obrigardes (thank you) to Paudimar camps staff and a free trip to the bus stop I was off again. So I managed to get on the bus and get into town Centro to get another bus across the border to Peurto Iguassu. I got off the bus and asked the tourist info Autobus to Peurto Iguassu? feeling all pleased with myself that I had attempted Brazilian Portugese. And she answered in English round the corner where the Argentina sign is. Felt a bit deflated after that but said Obrigardes anyway and found the bus stop!
Stood waiting for the bus I met a guy from the netherlands who had been in the country 48 hours longer than me and was struggling to get any info out of anyone. So we ended up getting on the bus together, him borrowing my South America guide for half the journey because he couldn't get one then going through border control (another stamp!). He was off to the falls then headed to the Inca trail Bolivia and working his way upto LA over the next 6 months. So after going past the meeting point I got off the bus and waved bye to a temporary friend. I had to get food for the next two weeks at camp so found a supermarket to stock up with. I was quite pleased with myself again I found coffee and coffee whitener! and soups and all sorts. Then I headed off to the meeting place.
Except I went via taxi and he dropped me off in the wrong direction.. so I walked for an hour and half very hot and ended up very lost. Just as I was at my wits end I had half hour till meeting the Yacutinga lot A bloke in his truck stopped and I think asked if I was ok. I said the meeting lpace name and he was AAHHHH and pointed back the way I had come and offered me a lift. Now normally I would have refused and flounced off but it was desperate times. So I got in and he took me a 15 minute journey back the way I had walked I was impressed at how far I had walked but there you go.He dropped me off and refused to take payment for the journey which proves I guess there are still some really nice people in the world.
